Our comrades from Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon have brought us news of sorrow: Greece’s border control officials have made an attack on a refugee ship on the 20th of October 2026, this time killing likely 17 people, of whom some are still missing. The confirmed murdered Palestinians who originally started their journey from Nahr al-Bared camp are Muhammad Fakhri Mabdi and Sami al-Tayyar, who died when their ship capsized.
Only one of the 18 people aboard the ship has survived: He is called Moutaz Faour, and he is from the Naher al-Bared camp. He was kidnapped to Turkey where he is receiving medical treatment for his wounds, after which he will be deported back to the refugee camp in Lebanon.
European officials enact violence against refugees daily, and we should not close our eyes from it. The terrorist state of Israel’s constant genocide in Gaza, funded by western countries, is pushing more and more refugees out to Lebanon where there are currently at least 12 refugee camps in which each reside over 50 000 palestinian families.
At the same time the refugees in Lebanon live as second class citizens. They are not allowed to work and they suffer from impoverishment. Their only wish is to return to Palestine, but Israel is continuously stopping them from doing so by completely destroying Gaza to the ground until there is nothing left to return to.
LANKA Network is starting co-operation with organisations working in the Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon, that will come to effect more concretely in 2027. We hope you stay tuned and follow our channels, and we also encourage you to follow our partner organisation Zaytoon Center in for example instagram: @zaytooncenter
Comrade, we must fight to spread information about the inhumane conditions of Palestinians. Down with the genocide project driven by Israel! From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free!
